Food Company Adds 1,000 New Jobs

Stung by the loss of bus and auto-parts factories, east-central Indiana has landed what someday could be as many as 1,000 jobs cooking, packing, selling, shipping and dreaming up meals made of organic food.

Really Cool Foods LLC, an ambitious new supplier to Trader Joe’s, Whole Foods and other grocers, said Wednesday that its main food preparation plant and U.S. operations office will locate on 52 acres.

The company, based in Manhattan, announced its plans at a news conference Wednesday near Cambridge City, a town of 2,000 in Wayne County about 55 miles east of Downtown Indianapolis.
